Just in time for messing up your Christmas wishlists, here is a selection of 13 designers from all over the world with wares to tempt. I feel like I could have easily added another 13+ but there’s plenty of time for that!
I can still remember the first “ring” I bought aged 15. It was silver and from a local Christchurch designer that everyone my age was into at the time and I reallllllllyyyy loved it. I was in and I was edging on being a grown up! Jewellery wasn’t allowed at my high school (bar “one stud in each ‘lobe), so every day when I got home and changed out of my uniform – it would go on. In some ways I think metal jewellery is a rite of passage !
Going forward I went through a stage of self-awarding myself a piece of jewellery for every birthday, starting silver and then finding myself, at 30 entering my “brass” era, totally due to gold plated being slightly out of my reach. My mid 30’s has made way to gold plated, but you guessed it….solid gold glints at me from all corners of the internet. My first foray into this is the purchase of a wedding ring, and yes, that is a helluva jump in $$ but also is a whole nother story.

So please enjoy these independent brands and makers and consider collecting a little something sweet for yourself going into a fresh new year! (that is TOTALLY how I justify stuff like this. Power rings are a thing!) Below will find brass, to silver, to gold plated to gold and the values associated but I hope too, long lasting designs that you can own and wear forever.

And PS…there is a gemstones edition of this post coming soon….. ech!

Two Hills

Designed and made in Melbourne since 2011 by Rhiannon Smith, Two Hills has a highly recognisable style that reminds me of hand drawn doodles. Beautiful in its simplicity.

Firmly on the world stage and a favourite of Vogue and Russh (to name a few), with rings widely coveted by all of us at some stage – it’s the new locks and custom letters ranges that will be causing your Christmas list issues I suspect…

Our showroom is now open to shop on Fridays and Saturdays until Christmas. Click the link in our profile for more information x
