EDIT: Summer Threads

One of my all time FAVOURITES! Little Tienda - summer from Mexico via Australia // as featured on Studio Home

On reviewing the group I pulled together below,  it is blazingly clear that when it comes to clothing, a few distinct things attract me.
Namely – loose/drapey shapes AND transparent/fluid fabrics. Now if you are more of a tight and bright kind of soul…don’t worry! There is still plenty in here for you, even from the labels mentioned – it’s just my casual/loose eye picked up on the alternates to those but they ARE there! Also, lets face it, flowy clothes look great on ALL body shapes so there really is something for everyone here.

This Edit involves only down under based, independent brands, so fire ahead and explore both the links to their sites and their ‘grams – get spending your hard earned clothing budgets on equally hardworking compatriots.

{Gorgeous shot above from one of Little Tienda’s many, Mexican based, campaigns – see more below}

Milk and Thistle

I’ve been a looooong time fan and follower of Australian designer; Danielle Atkinson and her super cool independant label. Yes we bonded over surnames (obviously) but its her ability to stay so true to her style season after season and introduce totally unique print and colour combos.

Long weekend wear. Absolutely! Bermuda dress in salsa is instore and online now. ❤️

This Melbourne based label has a cult following after 18 years as a mainstay in the local scene. Always one to seek interesting prints vs unexpected colour, designer Kylie Zerbst will have something to zest up your wardrobe!

New Lands

This Queenstown based label by Natalie Newlands; owner of iconic store; Angel Divine, should capture the attention of those of you looking for more edgy form and less overtly festive themes ha!

You might have added more than one of their leather bags or chunky necklaces to your collection over the years, but the Elk Accessories take on clothing is perfectly casual cool.

New colour rules.

Everything they make has a vibe of “luxe cool girl” and I love love love it. Also suitable for bodies of all different shapes and sizes, you should think about adding a piece to your locally designed AND made collection.

Kara Rosenlund

Primarily known for her evocative destination photography, Kara oozes casual style and after applying her hand to interiors she has now designed a tightly curated collection of lifestyle accessories including some super versatile clothing.

Viktoria and Woods

I’m a new follower of this Australian label and love their relaxed but sharp vibe. The dress below is a stunner for me!

Designer duo; Emilie Pullar and Abby van Schreven have grown a fiercely loyal following on both sides of the Tasman over the last 7 years or so. I am really loving their punchy, attitude packed new collection ….look out for the Faded Tee!

Years ago I interviewed designer Christina Lafian and witnessed her process with artisan makers in Bali. Once purely a homeware brand, now definitely a LIFESTYLE brand, Suku has a clothing collection that blurs the line between nightwear and day….

Staple + Cloth

There’s something low key and effortless about the summery offering from this Auckland based label – not way out or overtly bright, they have lovely pieces that I think could slide you out of the office and straight into Friday night drinks.

Everything they produce has an air of mysticism which adds an extra bit of zing for me.

Mister Zimi

It’s a cult level brand with colour AND sun worshippers the world over as customers – and for damn good reason.

A personal go-to for me every time I visit Auckland, this family of creatives produce super wearable garments out of beautiful quality fabrics. There’s a lovely romance to it all….
