Here is a run down of just some of the stops I made in Auckland last weekend. Having spent so little time up there since I moved south 6 years ago I saw the city through new interested eyes and woah….there has been some awesomeness taking place! The waterfront areas closest to the city have come alive with bars, restaurants, shops and public areas that seem to be thriving. Exciting interior fit outs, divine food and clever use of old forgotten spaces. I was buzzing! A lazy Saturday morning visit
WHAT: my lovely little 3 bedroom rented house where I spend many hours a week researching blog content, mostly with my feet up on that day bed. WHERE: the incredibly special small town of Wanaka, which mixes its country roots with sweeping natural beauty that has it firmly listed as a world renown tourist destination. WHO: I share the flat with two very awesome flatmates, Prue and Jase who have kindly taken on the task of living with Horangi, a large tiger-like feline with an abnormal personality and insatiable hunger.
I have skipped through Brisbane and now I’m in Sydney for (day job) work but Melbourne is lingering in my mind. Below is a short, sharp pictorial tracking of some of my adventures. I’ve never given you guys an official run down of my trip to Japan in January when I well and truly ditched you all for a little while! (sure you didn’t miss SH thaaaat much !!) It was definitely a once in a life time tour that not only combined an awesome crew of my friends but my first experience of being part of a specific media visit that involved A LOT of scheduling! We shot film and photos across 4 ski resorts in Nagano and as part of my membership
On Saturday was Rippon festival-an iconic event in the South Island celebrating NZ’s favourite and emerging music acts as well as it’s location, my special place, Wanaka. It is my third Rippon (held every second year) and once again one of the best days out of the year. In fact I had such a ripper last time that it set off a chain of thought and action that led me to move my life to Wanaka! The pics above are by the super talented Pat Shepherd who was on board
Well my peeps I am off on an adventure. Today I am getting on to plane in Auckland then on to Tokyo on Saturday as part of a very cool trip organised by my talented friend and photographer Camilla (those are some previous pics of Japan by her above) As part of a the job she has for the Nagano Tourism Board she needed to recruit some “talent” (haha!) for her ski shots and just so happened that a writer would be a handy addition too! So lucky lucky me
