Kiwi artist; Lizzy Thomas aka Ellaquaint might suffer from a but of an animal obsession but lucky for us she has an amazing creative way to channel it! A former Art + Design teacher, she now spends time painting birds and animals inspired by her adventures in NZ and the epic documentaries by Sir David Attenborough. As a foil to her great flow of personal commissions she has just released this whimisical collection of three Snow Beasts which are available in limited edition in both A4 and A3 here.

From left: Sales and Communications Manager; Chantelle Mears, Design Assistant and Production Manager; Meagan Curran and Juliette Hogan. …… The name Juliette Hogan is synonymous with clothing that is loved as much by the fashion industry insiders as it is by us everyday females. Her story is an inspiring tale of good kiwi grit and dedication mixed with an aesthetic that gently combines luxury with a casual vibe. With nearly 10 years on the clock, its safe to say that Juliette has got a brand story to be proud of

The School and their travelling roadshow of crazy talented creatives is arriving just next week!!! I’m excited to introduce you to the final tutor in this series of interviews; Simone Madigan who is winging her way over to demystify and teach you ( in a way non computer geeks can understand!) how to use Photoshop effectively and easily. Simone is a successful creative in her own right with her beautiful range of hand printed products and textiles. With the ability to understand the needs of a creative small business owner

Today felt like a good day to catch up on some of the latest from one of my favourites – kiwi illustrator Henrietta Harris. She has recently returned from an arty sabbatical in Europe completing works for Scope Basel in Switzerland  and is currently home working on pieces for an exhibition in Miami! Killing it!

YOURS is the product of one young Aucklander’s sneaker obsession and the ambition to design and offer shoes that reflect his clean and understated aesthetic. After 2 years of development, YOURS by Andrew Henry was officially born in 2009 and he continues to curate and develop his collection all of which you can check out online here. Recently he moved into a new bright and airy HQ in Parnell, Auckland which he shares with Rochford Rees Wines (yes …a nice office mate to have!) Scopey, pared back and with a restrained

I’ve become pretty attached to this project after following this gang of smart young architecture students and their process from conception, design, problem solving, model making and finally full scale set up! (click here to get the background on what I am talking about!) Last Friday they had access to the cavernous and white Flying Fish Studio where for the first time they could assemble the final product of months of work. I was LOVING it!!! Throughout the day they had boyfriends, family and friends dropping by to help and have

A few months ago I shared the quaint, white washed villa that Father Rabbit claimed as his suburban Auckland HQ. Well…in the last few weeks some serious changes have taken place, seeing Claudia ZinZan and Nick Hutchinson move the rabbit to a new lofty and modern corner of BLOC in Mt Eden. With its beginnings as a small but immaculately curated online store, Father Rabbit has grown a cult following for all those valuing practical but beautiful products…something that they have mastered the art of sourcing. Recently they added a “guest room”

Thread Design has long been one of NZ’s most popular bed linen brands. For years they have stayed true to their clean, pared back aesthetic and always worked with amazing fabrics. Impressively they still produce their range in New Zealand and have also opened a beautiful concept store in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Never fear non – Auckland folk, they have an ample and well stocked online store featuring not only their linen but so great furniture to match!

I had promised Lisa Li and Georgia Davison that my visit to their new Kingsland studio/store; Terrarium would be done and dusted in an hour. Yeah….try close on 3 hours! While I had blogged the bags produced by both of these young designers in the last year, I hadn’t met them in person until yesterday and as it turns out they are damn fun and inspiring company! As I snapped and snooped around their awesome space they shared their ideas for what is essentially an open and exciting concept. Having

From left: Hannah, Billie and Leanne. ……  Hawkes Bay design darlings; Home Base Collections have uprooted their shop and beautifully re-homed it for the next 4 weeks on Ponsonby Road. Leanne and Brian Culy, along with Hannah Feltham and daughter Billie Culy opened their pop-up officially on Friday and it’s pretty obvious why there is a bit of a buzz around it! Their kiwi/scandi aesthetic is highly recognisable and like all the best brands – when the entire range is put together in a tight space its total harmony.  From the
