A few months ago I shared the quaint, white washed villa that Father Rabbit claimed as his suburban Auckland HQ. Well…in the last few weeks some serious changes have taken place, seeing Claudia ZinZan and Nick Hutchinson move the rabbit to a new lofty and modern corner of BLOC in Mt Eden. With its beginnings as a small but immaculately curated online store, Father Rabbit has grown a cult following for all those valuing practical but beautiful products…something that they have mastered the art of sourcing. Recently they added a “guest room”

Paul + Rebecca Dowie – Designer and AUT student mentor from Douglas and Bec. Beside them are lights by Shaun van Riel. …….  I just wanted to pop in this quick Friday post to encourage any design fiends among you who might be passing through Auckland before August 3rd to make the time to swing by Material Matter. This is the student exhibition of a resulting project between Douglas and Bec and AUT second year Product Design students. It was SUPER impressive!! You can check out all the work online

Here is a run down of just some of the stops I made in Auckland last weekend.  Having spent so little time up there since I moved south 6 years ago I saw the city through new interested eyes and woah….there has been some awesomeness taking place! The waterfront areas closest to the city have come alive with bars, restaurants, shops and public areas that seem to be thriving. Exciting interior fit outs, divine food and clever use of old forgotten spaces. I was buzzing! A lazy Saturday morning visit
