I’ve really enjoyed watching this collaboration take place via the instagram feed of Alex Fulton and readied myself to use it as an excuse to introduce not only the results but also more of the magical, impactful light installations of Auckland artist; Trish Campbell!
Trish has had a life long fascination and attraction to light and as a prolific maker she has explored this for years. More recently, following the completion of her Visual Arts degree, she has been inspired by the work of the light and space artists of the 60’s as basis for her work. “They created objects from light, a sensory experience. They had a way of making light that takes me somewhere else.”
I could completely appreciate Alex’s immediate appreciation of the bold art of Trish and it seemed natural that the two should connect over their love of colour and absence of fear when it comes to using it on a large scale in interiors!
The result of their work together is the light/sculpture/enormous glowing stick of joy that you see in these first 3 images. Don’t be mistaken my friends…. these lights are big! You can check out an example of scale with the light now at home in the AFD Store here.
Enjoy too more of the Trish’s recent work in the imagery below and in her online store here.
